Clare Connor appointed to Sport England Board
ECB today welcomed the news that its Head of Women’s Cricket, Clare Connor, OBE, had been appointed to the Board of Sport England for a two-year term.

The former England women’s captain is one of six new appointees to the Board announced today by Hugh Robertson MP, the Minister for Sport and the Olympics.

The appointments are designed to strengthen the board and help Sport England deliver its strategy to get more people playing and enjoying sport – and helping those with talent fulfil their sporting potential.

Commenting on the appointment, ECB Chief Executive, David Collier, said: “Clare has been at the forefront of ECB’s efforts to boost participation in cricket at grass-roots level as well as being an elite performer in her own right and I am sure that her knowledge and insights will be invaluable to the Sport England Board.”

Clare Connor said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be appointed to the Sport England Board. With the London 2012 Olympics only two years away this is an exciting time for sport in this country and I am really looking forward to working closely with the other Board members on strategies to maximise sport’s appeal to all sections of the community.”
