Weekend April 30 - May 2
Well the season has started and there were 3 friendly matches this weekend.

Under 11’s:

The under 11s played on Saturday in a friendly match against the East Area LTAD side where they played 12 a side pairs cricket. Apart from problems at the venue (our away match) the game seemed to be a success where all the players got to do something. From the report I have had from the under 11 coach, all the bowlers bowled extremely well and there were very few wides, notable performances with the ball were Rebecca Bonante, Ellie Robinson, Polly McCarthy and Zanzibar Menzies (remember these names they may be future England stars!!!). Over the past few years with all the age groups the batting has not been so strong, but the coach of the under 11s was most impressed with the batting, there was lots of calling and backing up and we took a lot of quick singles and a number of them showed confidence with the bat, which is great news.

Under 13s:

The under 13s didn’t play an “official” match but they had a fun day organised by the under 13 manager (all funded by the parents), They played against the parents (like the good old days when I was once young!!!) They had a great day and the under 13s beat thethem, but notably I have been informed that the players played exceptionally well and look good for the season ahead.

Under 15s:

The 15s played in a friendly against Hampshire yesterday and Sussex won by 2 wickets. Hampshire scored 122 for 7 off 35 overs and we got the score within 25 overs. Outstanding performance from Paige Scholfield who took 5 for 18 and then scored 46 not out. The only worry we have which we have got to sort is that we bowled 35 wides!!!!

There are a number of matches this coming weekend:

Under 15s – Saturday 7th May v Middlesex at Arnold House, Edgware 2pm

Under 13s – Saturday 7th May v East Area Boys at Ocklynge School, Eastbourne 2pm
