SWCA Wound Up
As most will be aware, the Sussex
Woemn's Cricket Association was finally wound up on the 31st
October 2016, after 81 years of successfully running the women and
girls' sport in the County.
This change in the administration
of the the game followed a reorganisation at Sussex in which
Sussex County Cricket Ltd and the Sussex Cricket Board were
year previously. The running of cricket in the County was taken
over by Sussex Cricket Ltd, essentially running the professional
side of the game, and the Sussex Cricket Foundation, which carries
similar responsibilities to that which the Cricket Board held
At that time the decision was
taken to amalgamate the women's senior team with Sussex Cricket
Ltd i.e. with the professional rather than the recreational side
of the sport. SWCA continued running women's cricket for a further
year while the details of the new arrangement were sorted out.
The handing over of all matters
relating to women and girls' cricket has now been handed over to
the new organisations and will take place under their auspices.
A site was set up a few years ago carrying the
latest news on Sussex Cricket. This has not been updated as
frequently as I would have liked and so I have taken the
decision to close this down in due course.
Currently however there is still some recent historical
information on the site...
Much of the material on that site will be
transferred to this site in due course, for instance the links
at left should work on this site currently.
